Job description

As a Second Engineer you take the responsibility for the daily technical operations and maintenance on board our vessels. You do so in the safest way possible and in close cooperation with the Chief Engineer and/or Deck department. You are a key factor in the guidance of Junior Engineers and Apprentices and contribute to their professional development on board.

We assist you in developing your leadership skills and enable you to continuously gain experience with a variety of vessels and machinery. We strive to facilitate you in such a way that you can steadily grow towards a Chief Engineers position in our company.


Responsibilities

  • Operates technical equipment and systems in the safest and efficient way

  • Keeps the Engine Room and Technical Deck Equipment in optimal condition

  • Adequate Technical Ships Administration

  • Ensures Optimal Crew Performance in the Engine Room (Team Building)

  • Ensures Safe Operations on Board

Job requirements

  • Valid applicable Certificate of Competence (STCW III/2 or III/3; Second engineer)

  • Valid STCW Training Certificates

  • Valid Seafarer Medical Certificate

  • Good command of English language

  • Experience with general cargo trade

  • Experience with mixed Nationality crew
